Treat-no-Transport (Assessment)
A treat-no-transport EMS call is provided by tranporting providers that, as dispatched first responders, provide patient aid and care for BLS and ALS services as needed, dispense medical supplies, but ultimately may not transport the patient to a hospital. These calls are often a result of patients refusing care or an ambulance crew determining that ambulance transportation is not appropriate. Many departments now employ treat-not-transport fees (also called assessment fees) as a way to help offset reasonable and associated costs for providing the service.
